We Invite Your Questions For Interview With The Vertical Farm Author, Dickson Despommier

Written By Tinia Pina

Next week, a team of students from Columbia University and our team will be hosting an interview with Professor Dickson Despommier to discuss several topics related to the feasibility of organic hydroponics and vertical farming. We'll also be pitching novel concepts that our team has been approached with related to distributed organic waste management and the feasibility of implementing them in cities to increase urban resiliency and recycling rates. Many of the discussion points will be derived from topics that Professor Despommier has written in his book called, The Vertical Farm.

Your time has come! If you're eager to have a question be asked because you're curious about the urban farming movement, have read Professor Despommier's book and would like to raise questions that originated from the book's context, please suggest them below in the comment box. We'll try our best to include as many as time permits as long as they are appropriate and relevant to the below discussion topics:

  • Vertical Farming
  • Industrial Farming
  • Hydroponics/Aquaponics
  • Nutrient reclamation and management
  • Organic waste management
  • Organic hydroponic farming
  • Nutrient transparency
  • Localized food production and distribution
